Elvis Las Vegas

It's hard to find too many people who haven't heard of Elvis Presley. A trip to Las Vegas will reveal hundreds of Elvis impersonators. The sensational Rock and Roll singer, who was born in Mississippi in 1935, rose to international fame as he charmed fans with his dance moves, stunning good looks, and a fresh new musical style that blended elements of R&B, gospel, and rock and roll music. Even if you weren't alive during the height of Elvis's career and never had a chance to see Elvis in concert, you're probably familiar with songs such as “Viva Las Vegas” and “Jailhouse Rock.” Elvis has sold more records than anyone in music history. In addition to a legendary singing career, Elvis also appeared in 31 movies and dozens of television and radio shows. Although Elvis Presley died at his Graceland Memphis home in 1977, his fans worldwide still enjoy listening to Elvis music or watching Presley films.

Watching amateurs impersonate Elvis in concert might provide some lighthearted entertainment, but what if you want to watch a performance dedicated to the life and legacy of Elvis Presley without the tacky Elvis impersonators? The answer to that question is the Elvis Las Vegas show at City Center on the Las Vegas Strip. The show will be a joint partnership by CKX, the media company that owns the rights to the image of Elvis Presley, and Cirque du Soleil, the famous circus troupe. The show will attempt to celebrate the life of the artist without relying on Elvis impersonators to entertain the crowd. Rather, the production will feature Cirque du Soleil’s famous performers demonstrating Elvis's signature moves. The company will also employ its musicians and singers to imitate Elvis in concert. Like other Cirque du Soleil productions, the choreography of the Elvis Las Vegas show is expected to be flawless. While Cirque du Soleil usually features acrobatics in their productions, the Elvis Las Vegas show will focus more on Elvis’s dance moves. Cirque du Soleil and CKX also plan to incorporate state of the art stage lighting, an elaborate set, and the outrageous costumes that Elvis was known for. In addition to producing the upcoming Las Vegas show, Cirque du Soleil and CKX plan to develop and produce several other Elvis Presley shows all over the world.

There is no better place than Las Vegas for the Cirque du Soleil show. After all, Elvis performed at the Las Vegas Hilton over 800 times during his career. Although tickets are not yet available to the public, they are expected to be a hot commodity when they're finally released.
